The blend combines two parts Chardonnay and Savagnin juice with one part old marc. It spends thirty-six months in cask and has seventeen and a half percent alcohol. This is a white vin de liqueur from Jura.
Franz Strohmeier 2019 Sonne Nº8 Sauvignon Blanc
Austrian White
Sauvignon Blanc grows at Bad Gams on a steep slope with gneiss soil. Whole clusters ferment in 500-litre barrels for two weeks, then the fruit is gently pressed and returned to barrel for a further year of maturation. The producer works eight hectares and explores natural vineyard methods, including trials with whey in place of conventional copper sulphate. The wine is classified as orange.
