Rigour & Whimsy 2020 Thus Spoke Veruca
Canadian Red
Syrah and Viognier were co-fermented from fruit harvested on October 7 in Oliver, British Columbia. Syrah accounts for eighty-five percent of the blend and Viognier fifteen percent. Maturation lasted nine months in used French oak puncheons, and bottling took place the following August. The wine contains 3.39 grams per litre of residual sugar, with pH 3.82 and 6.375 grams per litre of acidity.

Syrah and Carignan form a dry red from Languedoc, bottled as Vin de France. The profile is juicy and earthy, and the wine is made without added sulphur. The two growers joined forces and work vineyards around Montpeyroux. Each retains an individual approach, reflected by keeping their respective wines visually distinct and identified by the responsible grower.

White and black peppercorn mingle with violet liqueur and candied violet petals in this Okanagan Valley Syrah. The tannins are low and creamy, while the wine is full and juicy. Its profile suits beef, lamb, game, poultry, veal, pasta and mature hard cheeses. Serve the wine at room temperature; decanting is also recommended before service.
Le Raisin et l’Ange 2023 Pause Canon Rosé
French Rosé
Red and black fruit shape this round, fresh rosé, with a supple finish. The blend combines fifty percent Plant de Brunel with twenty percent Grenache Noir, twenty percent Syrah and ten percent Merlot. Vinification uses a higher share of whole clusters than the previous vintage, while ageing takes place in stainless steel. The grapes are certified organic, and the wine is made without oenological additives.
Gabriëlskloof 2023 Whole Bunch Syrah
South African Red
Purple flowers, sour fig, dark chocolate and wet earth accompany blueberry, black cherry, black olive, clove, salted liquorice and cured meats. Powdery tannins and fresh acidity are also present. The Syrah is hand-picked, lightly crushed and whole-bunch fermented for ten days. Maturation lasts ten months, with three quarters in steel tanks and one quarter in older barrels.
Scopone 2021 Rimani Toscana Rosso IGT
Italian Red
Dark ruby colour accompanies blackberry, cherry, plum, blackcurrant, cocoa, coffee, roasted spice and subtle vanilla. The palate is smooth, round and enveloping, with firm polished tannins and a long savoury finish. Cabernet Sauvignon accounts for half of the blend, Sangiovese for twenty percent, while Merlot and Syrah together make up the remaining thirty percent. Alcohol is 14.5 percent.
Sigurd 2022 Red Blend
Australian Red
Dark plum, raspberry, blueberry and tender dark fruit meet forest-floor character and cinnamon. The palate is fresh and savoury, with crisp fruit, soft tannins and bright acidity. The blend brings together Syrah, Grenache, Carignan, Mourvèdre and Lagrein. Indigenous yeasts and carbonic maceration are used, and the wine is made with minimal intervention and very little added sulphur.
Koppitsch 2024 Rosza
Austrian Rosé
Wild berries, pink citrus and a salty note appear in this dry rosé. Rotburger, Pinot Noir, Blaufränkisch, St. Laurent and Syrah are blended. Whole bunches are pressed in a screw press, and the juice goes into fibreglass and stainless-steel tanks without additives or temperature control. Natural fermentation takes place, and most components co-ferment and mature for six months on gross lees. The wine is neither fined nor filtered and contains under ten milligrams per litre of total sulphur dioxide.
Artadi 2015 El Sequé Monastrell Alicante
Spanish Red
Monastrell makes up ninety percent of the blend, with ten percent Syrah. The wine comes from vineyards at six hundred metres in Alicante, planted on sandy Quaternary soils over clay subsoil. Raspberry, red and black fruit, rose petals, undergrowth and aromatic herbs are present. The palate has volume, with a strong opening followed by an approachable character. It contains fourteen and a half percent alcohol.

French Rosé
White peach and citrus appear in this salmon-pink rosé. The palate is creamy, with citrus freshness. The blend comprises Grenache Noir, Cinsault, Syrah, Mourvèdre, Rolle, Cabernet Sauvignon, Carignan and Tibouren. The vineyard lies beneath the Maures Massif on schist and clay soils, and it is farmed organically. The wine contains twelve and a half percent alcohol.
Absentee Winery 2019 Elephant Syrah
American Red
This California Syrah contains fourteen and a half percent alcohol. Raspberry and blackberry fruit appear with strawberry-buttercream and cinnamon notes. The profile has acidity, richness, weight and intensity, and the wine remains approachable. The fruit comes from an organically farmed vineyard in Mendocino County. Bottling takes place without filtration, sulphur or other additives of any kind.
Laurent Saillard 2021 Grenache du Gard Syrah du Vaucluse
French Red
Grenache from the Gard and Syrah from Vaucluse were destemmed and fermented separately on skins for five days. The fruit was pressed into tank for five months of élevage, with ten parts per million of sulphur added at bottling. This red wine has moderate tannins, slight bitterness and depth, while remaining accessible. It contains twelve and a half percent alcohol.
Lammershoek 2006 Roulette Red Swartland
South African Red
Warm fragrant spice, bright red fruit and fynbos appear with freshness, mouth-filling red fruit, fine tannins, minerality and a spicy, peppery finish. The blend includes Syrah, Carignan, Grenache, Mourvèdre and Viognier. Grapes are hand sorted before cold maceration and fermentation in open concrete vats. After malolactic fermentation in concrete, maturation lasts twelve months in French oak, twenty percent new, before bottling without fining or filtration.
Patrick Bouju 2019 Môl
French Red
Syrah, Carignan, Merlot, Cinsault, Muscat and Gamay make up this red blend. Organic fruit comes from Auvergne and Languedoc. Fermentation begins spontaneously in fibreglass, with the Syrah partly destemmed and the remaining grapes kept as whole clusters under naturally formed carbon dioxide. Maceration lasts ten days. Ageing lasts nine months in tank, and the wine is bottled without fining, filtration or additions.
Poplar Grove 2021 Syrah
Canadian Red
Deep purple in colour, this blend contains ninety-seven percent Syrah and three percent Viognier. Black cherry, violet and black pepper appear among the aromatics, while black raspberry, dark plum and vanilla are present in the flavours. The tannins are firm, the acidity is medium, and the finish is long and oak driven. The wine spends fifteen months in French oak and six months in bottle.

French Red
Smoked lard and speck appear with freshness in this Syrah. The structure is tight and velvety. The grapes were fully destemmed, and maceration lasted four weeks in concrete vats with regular pump-overs. Alcoholic and malolactic fermentations were carried out with indigenous flora in barrels. Maturation lasted twelve months in previously used barrels. The vines grow in brown and colluvial soils derived from metamorphosed granite.

Black plum and black raspberry sit near the edge of sweetness, with pepper, super-ripe fruit aromas and flavours, a silky texture and a long, smooth delivery. The blend is ninety-one percent Syrah and nine percent Viognier. It is a juicy, weighty red. A portion of the profit supports the British Columbia chapter of Les Dames d'Escoffier and its charitable work.

Bright raspberry, ripe red cherry, cranberry and black cherry accompany baking spice. The medium-bodied palate has soft, silky tannins and gentle structure. Grenache accounts for forty-seven percent of the blend, with forty-three percent Mourvèdre and ten percent Syrah. Each variety spends fifteen months in oak barrels, twenty percent new, and the finished wine records 13.5 percent alcohol.
Thibaud Capellaro 2021 Pierre Taillée
French Red
Syrah comes from two massale-selected vineyards just south of Condrieu, one in Saint-Joseph and one across the river. Half the grapes are destemmed and half retained as whole clusters for fermentation. The wine is pressed into 650-litre demi-muids for an eleven-month élevage. It is classified as Vin de France and records 12.5 percent alcohol.

Canadian Rosé
Wild strawberry, dried rosemary, raspberries and cream, and hazelnut define the aroma, while salted Marcona almond, white peach, pink grapefruit and fresh feta appear on the palate. Syrah from Sagebrush Vineyard in Oliver is direct pressed and naturally fermented in neutral oak and stainless-steel barrels. The wine rests untopped on gross lees under flor for twenty-one months, then is bottled by hand without fining or filtration.

American Red
Berry juice, pepper and thyme give a savoury profile with fruit purity and spicy complexity. Syrah makes up eighty percent of the blend, with Petit Verdot comprising the remaining twenty percent. The fruit was carefully selected for the bottling. The vineyards lie in Santa Barbara County, where the growers responsible for the fruit have cultivated vines at the estate since the mid-1990s.

French Rosé
Ripe strawberry, soft citrus and spring-rain minerality define the dry rosé. Grenache, Cinsault, Syrah and Mourvèdre form the blend. The grapes come from estate vineyards and partner growers in the Côtes de Provence appellation, then are vinified and blended by the winemaking team. A bright appearance accompanies yellow fruit, a subtle exotic note, supple texture and a delicately tangy finish.

Ruby-purple colour with violet reflections accompanies fine wood, toast, prune, fig and macerated cherry. The bouquet is complex and deep, while the attack is highly spicy. Dusty blueberry, violet and graphite are also present. Full-bodied, the wine has firm, powdery tannins and black and blue fruit. Syrah makes up ninety-two percent of the blend, with eight percent Grenache.

Grenache forms ninety percent of the blend, with five percent Mourvèdre and five percent Syrah. Three quarters of the fruit is not destemmed. Maturation includes ten months in one- and two-vintage Allier and Tronçais barrels, plus twelve months in foudre. Bottling occurs without fining or filtration. Black raspberry, sandalwood, ground pepper, dried herbs, dark cherry and cassis are present with fine, firm tannins and a long, spicy finish.

Blackberry, raspberry and red-fruit notes accompany delicate oak. The palate is rich and balanced, with smooth tannins. Mourvèdre makes up seventy percent of the blend, with twenty percent Cinsault and ten percent Syrah. The grapes are organically cultivated and harvested by hand. Maturation lasts eighteen months in traditional foudres and barrels. The colour is dense ruby red.

American Red
Zinfandel forms eighty-five percent of the blend, with Petite Sirah and Syrah composing the remainder. The wine is deep ruby-black, with licorice, cherry, baking spice and black pepper. Dark cherry, blackberry, dark plum, raspberry, vanilla and chocolate are also present. The palate is dry, rich and smooth, with soft, velvety tannins. Maturation takes place in French and American oak, twenty-five percent new.

American Red
The colour is medium ruby-purple. Aromas include Bing cherry, red raspberry, blueberry, roasted rhubarb, cardamom and brown sugar. Vanilla and spice sit with grilled meat, olive tapenade, cedar and molasses. Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Petite Sirah, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc and Malbec make up the blend. The wine is full-bodied, with firm, grainy tannins and juicy acidity.
Pierre Amadieu 2021 Les Capelets Saint-Joseph
French Red
Syrah grows on steep granite and gneiss slopes and is harvested by hand. Fermentation takes place at controlled temperature in stainless steel, followed by maturation in oak. Blackcurrant and raspberry sit with leather and liquorice, while red fruit and violet accompany mineral, cocoa and animal notes. The profile has roundness and silky tannins, and alcohol is thirteen percent by volume.
Thibaud Capellaro 2021 Ombre & Lumière
French Red
Grenache, Syrah and Viognier are vinified separately, using a mix of carbonic fermentation, skin contact and direct pressing. The wine spends nine months in barrels and older demi-muids, with no fining, filtration or added sulphur. Fruit comes from vineyards on granite and clay-limestone soils in the Rhône and Ardèche. The vineyards are farmed organically and biodynamically without certification, and alcohol is thirteen percent by volume.

Purple colour with violet reflections accompanies black cherry, spice and mint. The palate is harmonious and fruity, with coated tannins and a long, spicy, generous finish. The blend is sixty percent Grenache, thirty percent Syrah and ten percent Mourvèdre. Grapes are fully destemmed, fermentation uses indigenous yeasts, and maceration is long. Maturation takes place in stainless steel, and the vineyards are certified Organic under EU standards.
