Absentee Winery 2019 Elephant Syrah

This California Syrah contains fourteen and a half percent alcohol. Raspberry and blackberry fruit appear with strawberry-buttercream and cinnamon notes. The profile has acidity, richness, weight and intensity, and the wine remains approachable. The fruit comes from an organically farmed vineyard in Mendocino County. Bottling takes place without filtration, sulphur or other additives of any kind.

About Absentee Winery
Absentee Winery began in 2016 when Avi Deixler converted a former dairy barn in Point Reyes into a cellar after learning through harvest work in Oregon, Australia, Napa and France. The name reflects his low-intervention ideal: give the vineyard credit and avoid unnecessary additions in the cellar. Early wines drew on dry-farmed Mendocino fruit, including grapes from Poor Ranch. Deixler's cellar work has included whole-cluster fermentations inside barrels, rolling the vessels during fermentation before pressing the grapes.
