Laurent Saillard 2021 Grenache du Gard Syrah du Vaucluse

Grenache from the Gard and Syrah from Vaucluse were destemmed and fermented separately on skins for five days. The fruit was pressed into tank for five months of élevage, with ten parts per million of sulphur added at bottling. This red wine has moderate tannins, slight bitterness and depth, while remaining accessible. It contains twelve and a half percent alcohol.

About Laurent Saillard
Laurent Saillard returned to France after years in New York restaurants, learned winemaking with Noëlla Morantin and Clos Roche Blanche, and made his first vintage in 2012. After the owners of Clos Roche Blanche retired in 2015, he took on part of their Pouillé vineyard.
He farms his Loire parcels organically and ferments with native yeasts, using neutral vessels and modest sulphur additions. After severe Loire frost in 2021, he bought Grenache and Syrah from growers in southern France.
