Syrah comes from two massale-selected vineyards just south of Condrieu, one in Saint-Joseph and one across the river. Half the grapes are destemmed and half retained as whole clusters for fermentation. The wine is pressed into 650-litre demi-muids for an eleven-month élevage. It is classified as Vin de France and records 12.5 percent alcohol.

About Thibaud Capellaro
A harvest in Condrieu in 2015 set Thibaud Capellaro on the path to winemaking. After studying in Beaune, he returned to the northern Rhône and established his domaine at Chavanay in 2018. He farms about two hectares on cooler exposures; the domaine’s vines are certified organic.
Alongside the estate wines, his Slope range uses fruit purchased from other vineyards. He favours spontaneous fermentation, adapting techniques such as whole-cluster fermentation and ageing in larger, older wooden vessels to individual wines.
