Pinot Noir is harvested by hand, with half the fruit destemmed. Native fermentation takes place in stainless steel, with pumpovers during the first seven or eight days, followed by pneumatic pressing and twelve months in amphora. Bottling is unfined and unfiltered. Ripe black fruit, blackberry, violet and delicate spice accompany a full-bodied profile that combines power with delicacy.
Agostina Pieri 2017 Brunello di Montalcino
Italian Red
Clusters are selected by hand in the vineyard and again on sorting tables in the cellar. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel, followed by twenty-two days of maceration. The wine spends twenty-four months in wood, divided between 600-litre demi-muids and larger French-oak casks, then six months in stainless steel and eighteen months in bottle. The blend is entirely Sangiovese from two south-facing vineyards.
St. Amant 2022 Marian’s Vineyard Reserve Zinfandel
American Red
Bright, acid-driven red fruit appears with soft tea-like tannins and baking spice from used oak. Earthiness and a leaf-to-stem character sit alongside whole-cluster fermentation. The wine is fermented with native yeast and finished without new oak. The vineyard was planted more than a century ago and is farmed by Mohr-Fry Ranches under LODI RULES certification in Lodi, California.
Painted Rock 2022 Malbec Skaha Bench
Canadian Red
Floral notes and purple fruit accompany blue and dark fruit with a savoury note. The palate is dense and rich, with black cherry, red cherry, blueberry and mocha. The acidity is lifted and the finish has a mineral character. Made entirely from Malbec, the dry red comes from Skaha Bench in the Okanagan Valley and carries fourteen and eight-tenths percent alcohol.
Dr. Edge 2022 North Pinot Noir Tasmania
Australian Red
Dark cherry, wild strawberry and raspberry meet dried citrus rind, red flowers, spice and amaro herbs. Flint, charcoal, graphite, shiitake broth and light game add savoury detail. The tannins have a powdered-granite character, with mineral energy in the wine. Pinot Noir from northern Tasmania carries twelve and a half percent alcohol and uses a screw-cap closure.
Emandare 2023 Estate Pinot Noir
Canadian Red
About two acres of Pinot Noir occupy the middle of a south-facing terraced slope near Somenos Lake and Mount Prevost. The dry-farmed vineyard is kept to roughly two and a half tons per acre. Clones 667 and 777 each make up forty percent, with fifteen percent clone 115 and five percent clone 114. Fermentations use ambient yeasts.
Enrico Serafino 2019 Picotener Langhe Nebbiolo
Italian Red
Bright red colour with violet shades accompanies rose, violet, cherry, plum and fine spice. The wine is fine, velvety and fresh, ranging from medium-bodied to structured, with delicate tannins and a long, persistent mineral finish. Made entirely from Nebbiolo, it ferments in temperature-controlled stainless steel with an eighteen-day maceration. Maturation lasts twelve months in medium-sized oak barrels and wooden vats.
Matthieu Barret 2022 Pas Calé Pinot Noir
French Red
Fresh rose and violet accompany smoked bacon, cocoa, mint, blueberry and clove. The red wine is structured, rich and elongated, with young tannins. Pinot Noir comes from thirty-five-year-old vines rooted in Jurassic clay-limestone. Grapes are hand-harvested, then undergo whole-cluster carbonic maceration and a three-week maceration. The wine matures for eight months in glass vessels and is bottled unfined and unfiltered.
Cascina Penna-Currado 2022 Langhe Nebbiolo Bricco Lago
Italian Red
Deep garnet colour accompanies raspberry, cherry, wild strawberry, rose and violet. Crisp red fruit and citrus appear with soft, enveloping tannins. Spice, sweet flowers, chalky texture and a light sanguine detail are also present. The medium-bodied wine is fresh, with ripe tannins. Whole berries make up thirty to forty percent of fermentation, and maturation takes place in cask.
Lingua Franca 2021 Avni Pinot Noir
American Red
Subtle, mouth-filling and rich, with red cherry, black cherry, tea, rose petal, savoury and mineral nuances and a round, plummy texture. More than seventy percent of the Pinot Noir comes from the estate, with the remainder from Eola-Amity Hills vineyards. Grapes are hand-harvested and fermented spontaneously with eighteen percent whole clusters before twelve months in French oak and four months in tank.

Ripe black fruit and herbal undertones are joined by soft, ripe tannins. American oak nuances join a fruit structure, with medium length and a short finish. The red wine is dry, made entirely from Syrah and carries fourteen and a half percent alcohol. It comes from Thrace-Marmara in Turkey and uses a natural cork closure.
Massolino 2021 Barolo DOCG
Italian Red
Pure, juicy cherry appears with mineral, tobacco, wild herb, red cherry, cassis, spice, smoke, liquorice, dried ginger, rusty nail and blood orange. Dense, refined tannins accompany a firm structure. The Nebbiolo comes from Serralunga d'Alba with a small portion from Castiglione Falletto. Red berry, clove, rose petal, white pepper, star anise and orange zest add further detail.
Giulia Negri 2017 Barolo La Tartufaia DOCG

Wild berry, redcurrant, spice, tar, rose and earth accompany a full and generous expression. Violet, red cherry, tobacco and nutmeg appear with polished tannins and fresh acidity. Pure red-cherry flavour, lifted rose and fine structure add further detail. The organically farmed Nebbiolo matures for two years in large Slavonian oak casks, using fruit from high-elevation plots in Serradenari.

Light red colour accompanies a medium-bodied profile. Bing cherry, red currant, leather and wild herbs appear with a linear shape, natural acidity and rustic, firm tannins. The wine is made from Sangiovese Grosso grown in the Osoyoos Lake District. Its chiseled, elegant character suits wild boar or mushroom ragù, two pairings suggested for this southern Okanagan release.

Dense ruby-purple colour accompanies blackcurrant, espresso roast, charcoal and cedar. Firm tannins are another characteristic of the wine. Cabernet Sauvignon makes up seventy-six percent of the blend, joined by Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Malbec. Dried dark berry, crushed rock, cedar, graphite, nut and chicory add further detail to this Oakville Estate wine from Napa Valley.

Deep ruby red shows orange highlights. Rose, violet, truffle and tobacco accompany a dry, harmonious profile that is full and velvety. Nebbiolo grows on calcareous clay with southeast exposure. The grapes are hand-picked. Vinification takes eighteen to twenty-four days, and maturation takes place for twenty-four months in large barrels. The vines stand approximately 250 to 280 metres above sea level.

Dark purple and black colour accompanies black fruit, a slight herbal lift, anise, dark cherry and dried spice. The blend contains Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon from old vines in Ebenezer, at the northern end of the Barossa Valley. It ferments in open vessels before sixteen months in new French and American oak. The wine is bottled unfiltered after maturation on lees.

The grapes dry for sixty to ninety days before fermentation, followed by at least two years in large oak and four months in bottle.

Dense ruby-red colour accompanies cherry, dried plum, dried flowers and sweet spice. The wine is full-bodied and smooth, with velvety tannins. Corvina, Corvinone and Rondinella grapes undergo gentle drying before the wine matures in large oak barrels for at least twenty-four months. Further bottle maturation lasts six to eight months. The fruit comes from Veneto's Valpolicella Classica area.

Dark ruby colour accompanies red berries, forest fruit, peach and strawberry preserve. The palate is juicy and clear, with fine fruit, pointed tannins and a harmonious, lightly salty finish. Made entirely from Sangiovese Grosso in Tuscany, the wine ferments in wooden vats under controlled temperature. The estate vineyards sit at 480 metres on hills southeast of Montalcino.
Michael David Winery 2017 Sloth Zinfandel
American Red
Cherry, fig, vanilla and clove accompany bright cherry fruit, toasted marshmallow and nutmeg. Spice and tannin detail also appear. The blend contains Zinfandel and Petite Sirah from Mendocino County. Fruit comes from the Larramendy vineyard, planted in the 1950s on gravelly loam, and the wine matures for sixteen months in new French and American oak.

Ruby colour accompanies violets, plum, cherry, cinnamon, pepper, liquorice, balsamic notes and mint. The dry wine is balanced, dense, velvety, elegant and harmonious, with a persistent finish. Made entirely from Nebbiolo in Piedmont, the Riserva comes from old vines in the Meruzzano vineyard and matures for twenty to twenty-two months in large Slavonian oak vats.

Deep crimson in colour, the wine also shows black cherry alongside ripe black plum, dusty earth and dried herbs. Fig, blackcurrant, spiced chocolate and vanilla also appear, together with integrated tannins and a lasting finish. The wine is made from Corvina, Rondinella and Molinara in Veneto. Maturation takes place for twenty-four months in French oak.
