Altesino Grappa Di Brunello
$113.99Distilled Sangiovese di Montalcino grape pomace refined in barriques. Grappa di Fattoria was created for the first time by Altesino in 1977 together with the master distiller Gioacchino Nannoni. The fresh pomace from the company is distilled a few hours after racking in a copper still, using a discontinuous method, with low degree columns. The light yellow colour with golden hues is due to its short time in wooden barrels, which enables the distillate to acquire slight hints of vanilla and oak, without loosing the fruity taste typical of a young grappa. Balanced, with a pleasant impact, it delivers all its flavour on the palate with beautiful persistence.
Montezemolo 2019 Barolo Monfaletto
$112.9995 Points, Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate (2019 Vintage):
“The 2019 Barolo Monfalletto (made with organic fruit selection from across the vineyards that surround the winery in La Morra) shows grit, density and rich texture. The house style prizes muscle and brawn in this vintage that lends itself handily to these qualities. Pressed cherry and blackberry cede to licorice, cured tobacco and iron ore.”
The Nebbiolo that comes off this property is some of the best in La Morra. Even in challenging vintages the Monfalletto terroir yields Nebbiolo that is both powerful and supple. Insiders know that this is one of the best terroirs in Barolo. The 2019 vintage is perhaps its best yet, with stellar ratings across the board – it captures the true essence of the Langhe region.
