AboutCastello di Bolgheri

Castello di Bolgheri’s cellar dates to 1796 and stands within the medieval village, at the end of the Viale dei Cipressi. The property passed through generations of the della Gherardesca family before descendant Federico Zileri Dal Verme began renewing its wine project in the mid-1990s. Winemaker Alessandro Dondi joined in 2005.

The estate’s Bolgheri vineyards flank the avenue, with rows facing the Tyrrhenian Sea and soils of sand, clay and limestone. Planting from 1996 established Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot as its principal grapes.
