AboutBenanti
Giuseppe Benanti established the winery in 1988, building on his family’s older winegrowing roots around Viagrande on Etna. His twin sons, Antonio and Salvino, took over its leadership in 2012.
The estate grows native Etna varieties across different slopes, where altitude, exposure, rainfall and volcanic soils vary. Its vineyards are farmed organically, and the cellar uses indigenous yeasts selected through a five-year study.
Benanti 2022 Etna Rosso
Italian Red
Pale ruby in colour, with lifted red-fruit aromas and a cool mineral edge. The palate is dry and medium-bodied, balancing bright acidity with fine texture and a savoury, saline current. Freshness carries through the persistent finish, giving this poised Sicilian red both clarity and an easy affinity with food.
Benanti 2013 Pietra Marina Etna Bianco Superiore
Italian White
Orange blossom and ripe apple rise from an intense, complex nose. The palate is dry and distinctly mineral, with high acidity and saline detail giving the fruit a taut, elegant shape. Long lees ageing contributes depth without softening the wine's volcanic precision. The finish is persistent and savoury, leaving anise, almond, ripe apple and a clear impression of sea-breeze salinity.
Benanti 2017 Contrada Cavaliere Etna Bianco
Italian White
Orange blossom and ripe apple lead, with anise, almond and a stony volcanic note adding depth. The palate is dry, mineral and precise, carrying fresh orchard fruit through pleasant acidity to a long, aromatic finish. Serve well chilled with grilled fish, shellfish, vegetable pasta or lightly seasoned poultry.
