Ripe red fruit appears with light spice, camphor and blond tobacco. The palate is fresh, delicate and dense, with integrated tannins and a supple texture. A juicy, sanguine note is present on the finish. The Syrah comes from steep slopes in Ozon and Sarras. Part of the fruit is vinified as whole clusters and part by semi-carbonic maceration. Ageing lasts two winters in used barrels and demi-muids.

Intense carmine-red colour has violet tones at the edge. Ripe red and blue fruit includes blueberry, blackberry, cherry and black plum, with cookie, nutmeg, vanilla, leather, dark chocolate and toast. The tannins are smooth, and the finish is long and balanced. Syrah grows on thin granitic soils with angular stones in Apalta. Maturation lasts fourteen to eighteen months in French oak, seventy percent new.
Sequoia Grove 2018 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
American Red
Bright black cherry, blackberry, baking spices, chocolate and toasted vanilla are present. The palate has intense blackberry flavours and round, smooth tannins. The blend is eighty-three percent Cabernet Sauvignon, eight percent Merlot, six percent Cabernet Franc, and one percent each Syrah, Malbec and Petit Verdot. Grapes are hand-picked and the berries hand-sorted. A one-to-three-day cold soak precedes fermentation. Maturation lasts twenty months in French oak, half new.

French Red
Syrah comes from shallow granitic sands on a south-southeast-facing vineyard at 450 metres. The altitude brings freshness to the wine. Vinification takes place entirely in wood, followed by two years in oak barrels. The family has worked as winegrowers for six generations, and its thirty hectares lie in the northern Rhône, centred around Crozes-Hermitage. The wine carries fifteen percent alcohol.
Château Cabrières 2017 Châteauneuf-du-Pape
French Red
Dark cherry, fig and dried cranberry appear with light leather and spice. The wine is full bodied and tannic, with 15.5 percent alcohol. Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre and Cinsault form the blend. Red plum and kirsch are also present, along with freshness and a spicy finish. Part of the wine was aged in barrels for twelve months. The vineyards belong to Châteauneuf-du-Pape in the Rhône Valley.
Jean-Luc Colombo 2017 La Louvée Cornas
French Red
Cassis and blackberry flavours retain freshness despite the wine's concentration and richness. The Syrah is full bodied, with savoury smoke, nut and iron. Integrated oak and fine, delicate tannins are also present. Fruit comes from a single parcel on granite in Cornas. The grapes are hand picked and destemmed. Temperature-controlled maceration lasts one month. Ageing lasts twenty-two months in oak, fifteen percent new.

French Red
Dark, dense red colour appears with spice, small red fruits and jam. The palate is powerful and complex, with round tannins, ripe plum and cherry-stone notes. The blend contains seventy percent old-vine Grenache, fifteen percent Mourvèdre, ten percent Syrah and five percent other varieties. Vines average about fifty years, growing in stony Rhône alluvium and red clay.

The blend is sixty percent Grenache, thirty-five percent Syrah and five percent Mourvèdre. Jammy red and black fruit appear with toasted spice. The palate is fleshy, with ripe tannins, acidity and balance. Grapes are harvested by hand. Vatting lasts thirty days, and maturation lasts eighteen to twenty-four months in oak foudres plus six months in demi-muids. Alcohol is fourteen percent.

Counoise accounts for thirty percent of the blend, Grenache twenty-five, Syrah and Mourvèdre fifteen each, and Clairette, Bourboulenc and Roussanne five each. Floral, blackberry and spice notes appear with cassis and garrigue. The palate is tannic and fresh. Whole clusters are co-fermented in a wooden conical tank for more than a month. Vatting lasts eighty days. Maturation lasts eighteen months in barrel. The wine is bottled without fining or filtration.

Grenache, Syrah and Mourvedre form a forty-three, thirty-five and twenty-two percent blend. Red and black raspberry, plum, herb and spice appear in the profile. Lively fruit flavours and a lingering finish are also present. The wine is red, dry and full-bodied, with blackberry, smoked herbs and liquorice also present. The texture is mouth-filling. Alcohol is fifteen-and-a-half percent.
Guigal 2012 Côte-Rôtie Brune et Blonde de Guigal
French Red
Plummy fruit appears with ground clove and cracked pepper. The texture is ripe and creamy. Vanilla and bacon are present on a slightly dusty finish. The blend is ninety-six percent Syrah and four percent Viognier. Maturation lasts at least thirty-six months in oak, with forty percent new wood. The colour is dark ruby red, and the wine has round, soft tannins.

The colour is red with carmine glints. Aromas include fresh fruit, violet, pepper, smoke and black olive. Blackcurrant, red fruit and curry spice are present on a rich, soft and fresh palate. The blend is ninety-five percent Syrah and five percent Viognier. Traditional maceration lasts three weeks, indigenous yeast conducts fermentation, and maturation on the lees lasts two years in barrels and large oak casks.

Blue fruit, candied violet, chocolate, game, blood and iron appear with ripe tannins and a large finish. The blend is ninety-eight percent Syrah and two percent Viognier, with eighteen percent whole clusters. Fermentation took place in concrete. The wine spent eighteen months in large-format French oak, twenty percent new, and was bottled without fining or filtration. Production totalled 520 cases.

Austrian Red
Cabernet Franc and Syrah make up this dry red wine from Burgenland. It is unfiltered and carries 12.5 percent alcohol. The wine matured for six years in small barrels and was created as a tribute to Austrian painter Alfred Hrdlička. Its producer is based in Illmitz beside Lake Neusiedl and represents the fourth generation of a winemaking family.

Spicy aromas include ripe red fruit, cassis, toasted herbs, pepper and roasted meat. The palate is big, rich and full-bodied, with a long, lingering finish. The press and free-run juice matures for twenty-four months in 5,000-litre oak foudres, and the wine is bottled without filtration.

Eight other permitted varieties make up the remaining fifteen percent.

Deep ruby colour appears with a fresh chocolate note. The wine is round, with ripe fruit, soft tannins, good length, acidity and balance. Grenache and Mourvèdre each account for thirty percent of the blend, with fifteen percent Syrah, ten percent Counoise and five percent Cinsault. The remaining ten percent comprises eight other permitted varieties. The grapes are grown organically.

The wine matures for eleven months in medium-toast French-oak barriques and carries 14.1 percent alcohol.
