Giuseppe Cortese 2021 Barbaresco Rabajà
$149.99
Raspberry, cherry and plum lead a lifted, complex nose, joined by wilted rose, tea and a touch of undergrowth. The palate is juicy and finely structured, with tightly woven tannins giving the red fruit definition and length. Savoury earth and dried herbs build through the middle, while the finish remains firm, fresh and persistent. Decant before serving with braised beef, roast lamb, porcini or aged hard cheese.

About Giuseppe Cortese
Giuseppe Cortese first bottled Barbaresco from Rabajà in 1971, working with his father Giacomo. Three generations share the work of the estate, from vineyards and cellar to sales and hospitality. The vineyards occupy a natural amphitheatre between Rabajà, below the cellar, and the neighbouring Trifolera hill.
Nebbiolo is the estate's defining grape, with Barbera, Dolcetto and Chardonnay also grown at Trifolera. For Rabajà Barbaresco, fermentation takes place in cement or steel before ageing in large Slavonian oak casks.
