Wolfburn Batch 177 Rum Cask Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky

Roasted figs and prunes lead the nose, with candied ginger, plum sauce and toffee adding warmth. The palate is broad and smooth, bringing marzipan, sultanas and dark molasses together with ripe fruit and honey. A marriage of bourbon-matured whisky and spirit from Caribbean rum barrels gives the profile both structure and generous sweetness. The finish is long and silky, carrying dried fruit, oak tannin and lingering rum richness. Serve neat or add a few drops of water.

About Wolfburn Distillery
William Smith founded the original Wolfburn distillery beside the Wolf Burn in Thurso in 1821. It had fallen into ruin by 1872; a new team built nearby in 2012 and distilled its first spirit on Burns Night in January 2013.
Milling, distilling and bottling take place at the Thurso distillery, with long fermentations and gentle distillation in copper pot stills. The whiskies explore American oak, Oloroso sherry casks and peat, and are bottled at natural colour without chill filtration.
