Dönnhoff 2018 Tonschiefer Riesling Trocken
Peach, slate, grapefruit, tart orange, citrus zest, white flowers and meadow herbs appear with salinity. The dry Riesling is full-bodied, creamy and tangy, with fine minerality, fresh acidity and grip. Fermentation takes place in large oak, while maturation takes place in stainless steel. The finish is long, with mineral drive and lift. Alcohol is 12.5 percent.
Emrich-Schönleber 2021 Monzinger Niederberg Riesling 1G
Bright citrus peel, spice and mineral character accompany piercing acidity and a grippy texture. The dry Riesling is linear, with length and focus. Native yeasts ferment the wine in stainless steel. Niederberg’s slate and quartzite slopes sit in the upper Nahe. The parcel ripens later than Halenberg because it does not receive the same thermal updraft. Farming is identified as sustainable.
Dönnhoff 2023 Weissburgunder Trocken
Precise and quietly expressive, with lemon, crisp apple and pear joined by melon and a clear slate-like mineral note. The dry palate is medium-bodied, balancing ripe orchard fruit with fresh acidity and a restrained, elegant texture. A clean, stony finish works well with shellfish, richer fish dishes, roast poultry or mild cheeses.
