Bodegas Portia 2024 Verdejo Sobre Lías
Spanish White
Boxwood, coriander and tomato leaf meet tropical fruit and lime in this Rueda white, with fennel, pear, mineral and almond notes also present. Fresh acidity accompanies a creamy, smooth mid-palate and a dry, pithy finish. Verdejo is harvested at night, cold-macerated before pressing and fermented at low temperature in stainless steel on its own lees.
Alfredo Maestro 2019 Amanda Rosado de Lágrima
Spanish Rosé
Garnacha Tintorera is pressed directly without skin contact, preserving freshness and crunchy fruit. Most of the fruit comes from El Cuchillejo in Olmos de Peñafiel, a north-facing vineyard planted in nineteen fifty-three at 850 metres on limestone-clay soil. Additional fruit comes from old plots in Burgos, Valladolid and Segovia. The wine is a rosé made without ageing.
MicroBio Wines 2019 Ruf y Ann Rufete
Spanish Red
Wild raspberry, olive, earth, cumin and floral notes appear in a delicate profile. Acidity is pronounced, while the tannins are sweet and delicate. The finish is long and floral. Rufete comes from a vineyard planted in nineteen fifty-one at Miranda del Castañar, with decomposed granite and a slate outcrop. The wine carries 13.3 percent alcohol and the vineyard is farmed biodynamically.
Telmo Rodriguez 2014 Pegaso Granito
Spanish Red
Blackberry, black cherry, thyme, rosemary and earthy notes accompany a deep ruby colour. The palate is fleshy and concentrated, with firm tannins, mild acidity and a mineral finish. Orange, lime, bark, forest floor, spice and red fruit are also present. The texture is balanced and expands across the back of the palate, adding length. This is a dry Garnacha red.
Matsu 2020 La Jefa Malvasía Toro
Spanish White
The wine is made entirely from Malvasía. Vanilla and ripe stone fruit stand out, accompanied by creamy notes and light anise. The palate is mouth-filling and silky, with creaminess and good acidity. The finish is long and dry. Grapes come from scattered parcels of old, pre-phylloxera vines cultivated naturally in Toro, and this is the producer’s first white wine from the region.
Aalto 2004 PS Ribera del Duero Magnum 1.5 L
Spanish Red
Blackberry and pomegranate lead an intense, expressive profile, joined by dark chocolate, mineral detail and warm spice. The palate is rich and voluptuous yet carries its scale with balance and surprising lightness. Ripe, firm tannins give structure, while liquorice, leather and savoury meat add depth. The texture stays velvety through a long, gently sweet finish. Decant before serving with roast lamb or braised beef.
José Antonio García 2020 Unculín Blanco Bierzo
Spanish White
Dry and finely structured, this Bierzo white combines Doña Blanca and Godello from old bush vines in Valtuille de Abajo. Pear and melon sit over a light waxy note, while bright acidity keeps the palate taut and clean. Native-yeast fermentation and time on the lees add quiet texture without dulling the wine's freshness. Serve with shellfish, grilled fish or fresh cheeses.
Ossian 2018 Quintaluna Verdejo
Spanish White
Waxy apple and melon meet white pepper, hot stone and delicate white flowers. The palate is vibrant and refined, with peach, lemon and mandarin carried by bright acidity and a clear mineral line. Rounded texture adds generosity without dulling the freshness, while almond and ripe fruit linger on the clean finish.
Losada 2019 Mencía Bierzo
Spanish Red
Black cherry and plum lead with toast, dark chocolate and licorice, while mountain herbs and mineral notes add lift. The palate is expressive and balanced, with integrated tannins and acidity carrying the fruit into a composed finish. Generous but not heavy, it suits grilled steak, roast lamb or mushroom dishes.
