Mateus Nicolau de Almeida 2022 Eremitas Amón de Kélia

Golden in colour, with an enveloping nose of gentle toast and ripe orchard fruit. The palate is rounded and concentrated yet remains fresh, with a smooth mineral line through the finish. This 2022 Rabigato comes from the south-facing Amón de Kélia parcel in the Douro Superior, where schist and a seam of quartz shape the site. It fermented spontaneously and aged for one year in concrete.

About Mateus Nicolau de Almeida
Mateus Nicolau de Almeida and his wife, Teresa Ameztoy, make wine at Adega do Sável in the Douro, bringing together family roots in the Douro and Rioja. They farm vines, olive trees and almond trees organically, drawing also on biodynamic practices. Their cellar is built underground in the schist.
They compare the Douro’s three subregions through separate wines, explore Rabigato from different south-facing parcels, and experiment with small lots in the cellar.
