Little Farm Winery 2022 Pied de Cuve Chardonnay

Smoked lemon and grapefruit appear with spice, red apple and a hint of cherry. The palate is fresh and delicate, with pristine lemon fruit. Chardonnay from an organic vineyard in Cawston was fermented with a pied-de-cuve starter, divided between older barrel and tank, and matured on gross lees for ten months. It was bottled unfined and unfiltered, with minimal sulphur added at bottling.

About Little Farm Winery
Rhys Pender MW and Alishan Driediger bought their Cawston property in 2008, planted four acres the following year and made Little Farm's first vintage in 2011. The estate lies in the Similkameen Valley, where its Mulberry Tree Vineyard is rooted in stony, calcium-carbonate-rich ground around Cawston. Production remains deliberately small, drawing on the home vineyard and nearby sites.
Its farming is certified organic, with extensive work by hand. Fermentations begin with a pied de cuve—a small native-yeast starter prepared from the vineyard. Cellar work includes neutral barrels, stainless steel, lees ageing and restrained use of sulphur.
