Blueberry and blackberry appear with black licorice and hazelnut wafer. The palate has broad tannins, gentle acidity and a long, slowly fading finish. Production totalled one hundred cases from six barrels. The wine spent twelve months in neutral French oak. Tempranillo from Cawston in British Columbia’s Similkameen Valley reaches fourteen and a half percent alcohol. The profile is bold and structured.

About Maison Smith Montpetit
Maison Smith Montpetit farms in the lower Similkameen Valley, a dry, wind-shaped corner of British Columbia. Erich Smith-Peter is owner and winemaker, working alongside co-owner Nick Desrochers. French and Italian grape varieties grow in organically farmed vineyards on glacial-moraine soils. In the cellar, the team aims to intervene as little as possible, keeping the emphasis on the fruit’s aromas and character.
