Bodegas Albamar 2023 Albamar Tinto

$54.99

Caíño Tinto, Espadeiro and Mencía form this red from Rías Baixas. The varieties grow near the mouth of the Umia River in the Ría de Arousa, among gentle relief, sandy and clay soils and a constant sea breeze. Fermentation uses native yeast in stainless steel, where the wine matures for six months and completes malolactic fermentation. It then rests for three months in oak. Alcohol is eleven percent.

About Albamar
Albamar grew from a family cellar in Castrelo, near Cambados, where Xurxo Alba Padín took the lead in 2006. Its name joins the Alba family name with the sea. Its small O Salnés parcels lie near the Umia estuary and Ría de Arousa, on sandy and clay-rich ground under Atlantic influence. Albariño is central to the winery; its flagship white ferments spontaneously and ages on fine lees. Xurxo also works with Mencía, Caíño and Espadeiro, making red, rosé and blanc-de-noirs wines.
