Ekho 2022 Santorini Assyrtiko

Chamomile, green tea and bergamot appear with basil, citrus zest and white pepper. The palate is steely and oily, with sharp acidity, white nectarine, tea, ginger, tension, salinity and a mineral finish. Fruit comes from a single Megalochori vineyard beside the caldera rim, planted to ungrafted basket-trained Assyrtiko more than 150 years old. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel; the wine spends eleven months on lees with regular stirring.

About Ēkhô Wines
Winemaker Lefteris Anagnostou founded Ēkhô Wines with Konstantinos Makridimitris, releasing their first vintage in 2021. They work with growers and selected plots on the Greek islands of Naxos, Santorini and Lemnos.
The project helps preserve old vineyards, often with ungrafted vines, on isolated, low-yielding sites that can be difficult to reach and farm. Its wines explore indigenous grapes, including rare Cycladic varieties.
