Garnet and ruby colour accompany cinnamon, wormwood, liquorice, wild rose and Virginia tobacco. The Nebbiolo is full and elegant, with soft, enveloping tannins and a long spicy finish. Fruit comes from calcareous clay with sandstone, quartz sand and silt. Traditional maceration precedes maturation in large oak casks, followed by further time in bottle. The wine carries fourteen percent alcohol.

About Marchesi di Barolo
Marchesi di Barolo occupies historic cellars in the town that gave Barolo its name, a place closely associated with the wine's transformation during the first half of the nineteenth century. Marchesa Giulia di Barolo developed cellars for ageing the local Nebbiolo in large casks. In 1929 Pietro Abbona, together with his brother and sisters, acquired those cellars; the Abbona family has carried the house forward from that foundation.
The house has vineyards in the Langhe, Roero and Monferrato, with harvest decisions made according to each site. Wines from individual crus are made separately, while the classic labels blend wines from several vineyards.
