Penfolds Bin 389 Cabernet Shiraz 2018 is a substantial, intensely flavoured South Australian red with a polished balance of Cabernet Sauvignon structure and Shiraz richness. Lifted aromas of cassis, black cherry, juniper, coconut, vanilla and subtle oak lead into a generous palate of dark cherry liqueur, black forest cake, roasted beetroot and savoury spice. The texture is plush and layered, with sweet Cabernet fruit balanced by the more savoury character of Shiraz. Oak and tannins are present but well absorbed, giving the wine depth and shape without taking over. Powerful, refined and built for the table, with a long, dark-fruited finish.
