The Pommard 1er Cru Les Arvelets is Pinot Noir from a small plot. Hand harvested grapes are brought back to the cellar in less than 10 minutes. The vinification takes place in enamelled concrete vats and wooden vats. Cold maceration is carried out for approximately 3 to 5 days with a soft pump over. The wood for the oak barrels comes mainly from the forests of Chatillonais and Fontainebleau. This wine is aged on average 18 months, with 65% new barrels. Drink now through 2030.

Marchesi Antinori Tignanello 2020 is a benchmark Toscana IGT, made chiefly from Sangiovese with Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. Ripe cherry, blackberry, violet, tobacco, cedar and sweet spice rise from the glass, followed by a polished palate of dark fruit, cocoa and savoury herbs.

Concentrated yet energetic, it combines vivid acidity with fine-grained tannins and well-integrated oak. Long, refined and built to develop, it is a natural match for steak, lamb and richly flavoured Italian dishes.

The 2016 harvest lasted 76 days and set records for being Mission Hill’s and the Okanagan Valley’s longest harvest ever. The lack of heatwaves in the summer kept sugar levels and phenolic maturity in sync so that ripening progressed slowly and predictably. Enjoy vivid, deep flavours, great acidity and excellent freshness. Vivid and fragrant, on the nose it’s a bouquet of dense black fruits, from currants to ripe blackberries, with a floral nuance. Layers of earthy character follows, with a cigar box and licorice complexity. The firm tannin structure lends itself to a long, rich and savoury finish.
