AboutTugwell Creek Honey Farm & Meadery
Beekeeper Bob Liptrot and Dana LeComte established Tugwell Creek Honey Farm & Meadery near Sooke in 2003, after moving to Vancouver Island in 1999. On their twelve-acre coastal farm, Liptrot bred hardy bee colonies to suit the demanding Pacific conditions.
The meads drew on different honeys, farm-grown fruit and berries from the surrounding area. Some bottlings spent extended periods ageing in European oak.
Tugwell Creek Meadery 2020 Harvest Melomel Mixed Berry Mead
An off-dry melomel combines local honey with a blend of berries from the farm. The palate is clean, crisp and distinctly fruity, followed by a soft honey finish. The berry mix includes marionberry, loganberry and gooseberry. The honey and fruit are tied to the producer’s farm near Sooke on Vancouver Island. Salmon is a suggested pairing.
