AboutTerres Falmet

Yves Falmet grew up in a farming family in Champagne, studied winemaking in Montpellier and worked in California, New Zealand and Australia before settling in the Languedoc. In 1996, he bought steep vineyards near Cébazan in Saint-Chinian and began restoring plots that others had abandoned.

The north-facing slopes are cooled by the Tramontane wind, while deep reserves of water help the vines through the Mediterranean climate. Falmet limits mechanical work and reduces vineyard treatments as part of his conservation-minded farming.

Terres Falmet 2008 A Contre Courant Saint-Chinian

French Red
$104.99
Deeply coloured and strikingly mature, with dried fruit, leather, fig, tobacco and candied cherry joined by flashes of raspberry, pomegranate and dried rose. Four years under a veil of yeast give the palate unusual depth and savoury complexity. Rich, muscular and earthy, with dusty tannins and a substantial, cigar-toned finish.
