AboutTenuta delle Terre Nere
Tenuta delle Terre Nere farms volcanic vineyards between 600 and 1,000 metres above sea level on Mount Etna. Since its first harvest in 2002, it has made and bottled wines separately from Etna’s historic vineyard districts, known as contradas. Its holdings now span nine contradas on the volcano’s northern, eastern and southern slopes.
The estate also helped seek formal recognition for Etna’s historic districts, whose boundaries received ministerial approval in 2012.

Italian Red
Pale red in colour, with tart cranberry and cherry fruit. The palate is supple, light and juicy, with little tannin and a slightly bitter almond finish. Nerello Mascalese forms most of the blend, with a small share of Nerello Cappuccio. The vines grow on volcanic soils between Castiglione di Sicilia and Randazzo, and the wine matures in oak for about one year.
