AboutRubén Díaz
Born into a winegrowing family in Cebreros, Rubén Díaz began by tending a small vineyard belonging to his mother in the late 1990s. At first he sent the grapes to the local cooperative, then began making wine at home and equipped a small cellar for his first commercial bottlings in 2004.
His small parcels lie around Cebreros and neighbouring villages at roughly 700 to 1,100 metres, on granite and slate soils. Red Garnacha and white Albillo Real are the principal grapes. Díaz also took part in the Garnachas de Gredos movement, supporting neighbouring winegrowers and new projects in the area.
Rubén Díaz La Sorpresa Tinaja Oxidativa
Dried red fruit and savoury herbs lead a deliberately oxidative, quietly nutty profile. Made from Garnacha in Cebreros and matured in tinaja, the wine carries freshness and mineral tension beneath its mature character. Serve slightly cool with roast lamb, aged Manchego or mushroom dishes.
