AboutGround Breaker Brewing

Ground Breaker Brewing began operations in Portland in November 2011, opening under the name Harvester Brewing as the first dedicated all-gluten-free brewery in the United States. Founder James Neumeister began developing gluten-free beer after a friend was diagnosed with coeliac disease. The brewery changed its name to Ground Breaker in 2014 following a trademark conflict.

The brewery and gastropub remain entirely gluten-free spaces, with gluten-containing ingredients kept off the premises rather than managed on a shared system. Instead of brewing with barley, wheat or rye and stripping the gluten away, Ground Breaker works with naturally gluten-free materials such as malted rice, millet, buckwheat, teff and sorghum or rice syrup. Its Portland brewhouse has a capacity of seven barrels.

Ground Breaker 99 Light Gluten-Free Lager Tall Can

American Beer
$5.49

Clean and crisp, with a light malt centre and a measured hop edge. The palate stays lean and refreshing, offering gentle grain sweetness, a faint citrus lift and lively carbonation before a dry, tidy finish. Its modest flavour intensity is deliberate rather than thin, making it an easy, well-balanced lager for warm afternoons, casual meals or simple snacks. Serve well chilled.
