The Thanisch family’s winemaking history in Bernkastel stretches back more than 375 years. The Erben Müller-Burggraef estate’s roughly 16 hectares are devoted to Riesling, much of it on the steep slate slopes around Bernkastel where work remains heavily manual.
The steep, slate-rich Berncasteler Doctor vineyard is the historic heart of the estate. Spontaneous fermentations move slowly at cool temperatures, with traditional thousand-litre oak casks and stainless steel chosen case by case.

This bright Riesling opens with expressive pineapple, banana and lychee, followed by ripe stone fruit, lime zest and a gentle slate-like mineral note. Brisk acidity gives the palate lift and keeps the generous fruit precise, while a lightly rounded texture adds ease. The finish is clean, citrus-driven and balanced. Serve with green curry mussels, roast pork or mildly spiced dishes.

Honey and gentle apple open on the nose, leading into a light-bodied palate with a measured balance of sweetness and acidity. Mineral-infused Bosc pear sits at the centre, joined by nectarine and a subtle touch of brown sugar. Refreshing and composed, the flavours linger steadily through the finish.
