Chateau Musar 2017 White
Lebanese White
Brilliant full gold in colour, with butter, honey, roasted almonds, apricot, vanilla and orange. Toasty honey, ripe apricot, nuts and spice carry through the rich palate, balanced by good acidity. The blend is two-thirds Obaideh and one-third Merwah from low-yielding Mount Lebanon vineyards. Fermentation began in cement vats, followed by six to nine months in French Nevers oak barrels. Alcohol is twelve-and-a-half percent.

Lebanese Other Spirits
Grape alcohol with an average age of five years forms the base. The spirit is distilled four times, with anise seeds added during the fourth distillation, then aged for one year in terracotta amphorae. Clear and colourless, it shows anise, fennel and liquorice, with a clean, smooth and powerful palate and a long finish. It contains fifty-three percent alcohol.

Red cherry, plum, carob and fig shape a deep, generous aroma, lifted by a measured thread of eastern spice. The palate carries kirsch and plum into blackcurrant and dark chocolate, with velvety tannins providing quiet structure. Fruit concentration gives the wine depth without dulling its freshness. The finish is long and composed, leaving cherry, spice and cocoa.

Sweet red cherry, mulberry and plum lead an expressive aroma, lifted by tea leaf, liquorice and gentle spice. The palate has generous fruit depth, fresh balanced acidity and soft, well-integrated tannins. Savoury complexity builds gradually without obscuring the bright core of fruit. The finish is long and elegant, carrying dried herbs, red berries and a subtle earthy warmth. Further cellaring will bring added harmony.
