AboutBoschendal

Boschendal lies beneath the Simonsberg between Stellenbosch and Franschhoek, on a farm established by Jean le Long in 1685. The de Villiers family later cared for the property for more than a century and built its Cape Dutch manor, now a national heritage monument. The wine estate was restored in 1976.

Today, vineyard sites are chosen to suit each grape variety, with separate cellars and winemaking teams for reds and whites. Chardonnay, Shiraz and Cap Classique sparkling wines are particular focuses.

Boschendal 2016 Lanoy Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot

South African Red
$26.99
Bright mulberry and blackcurrant lead, joined by ripe plum, tobacco leaf and gentle spice. The palate is rounded and generous, combining dark berry fruit with polished tannins and a savoury oak line. Balanced and approachable after time in bottle, it finishes with lingering fruit and spice, and pairs comfortably with roast beef, lamb, braised dishes or aged cheddar.
