Nebbiolo d'Alba

Ruby colour tending toward garnet accompanies violet, humus, woodland spice, red fruit, dried flowers, liquorice and Earl Grey tea. Fine, supple tannins and a long finish are present. Nebbiolo comes from Terra di Mezzo in San Rocco Seno d’Elvio, where vines between fifteen and sixty years old grow in calcareous-clay soil. Maturation lasts roughly twelve months in large Austrian and German oak.

Blueberry leads a firm, classically styled profile, with a refined edge emerging once the wine has had time to breathe. The palate is dry and distinctly tannic, showing more restraint than richness. Decant briefly to let the structure settle, then serve with braised beef, lamb, mushroom ragu or aged hard cheese, where its grip will feel most at home.
