Orofino 2022 Passion Pit Cabernet Sauvignon

Made entirely from Cabernet Sauvignon, the wine carries rich dark-fruit flavours and fourteen percent alcohol. It spent twenty months in French and American oak. The vineyard sits on the Cawston Bench in the Similkameen Valley beside a former commercial gravel pit. The site has a sunny slope backed by steep granite cliffs, with angular granite rocks and shallow soils.

About Orofino Vineyards
Orofino Vineyards began after John and Virginia Weber encountered the Similkameen Valley in 2001, bought a vineyard and moved from Saskatchewan to Cawston. Their experience now spans the valley's warm bench sites, heavier bottomland soils and cooler Olalla Gap. Orofino combines its own holdings with close grower partnerships, frequently identifying the individual vineyard behind a wine.
The home vineyard was first planted in 1989 and still includes original blocks of Cabernet Franc, Pinot Noir, Merlot, Riesling and Muscat. The Webers began planning their straw-bale winery in 2003, using thick walls to moderate the Similkameen's hot summers and cold winters. A solar hybrid system added in 2012 supplies electricity and hot water to the tasting-room and office building.
