Papaya, neroli and nectarine shape the aromas. Lemon, mandarin and grapefruit drive an intensely flavoured yet delicate palate, held by a tight line of acidity through a long, zesty finish. The Riesling comes from the family vineyard at White Hutt in Clare Valley, where heavy red clay contributes richness and generous palate weight. Alcohol is 10.9 percent.

About Rieslingfreak
John Hughes grew up among his family’s Riesling vines in Clare Valley and founded Rieslingfreak in 2009 to work exclusively with the grape. Winemaker Belinda Hughes joined him in 2021. The wines span dry, sweet, sparkling and fortified styles, with a number on each label identifying its region and style.
Fruit comes from Clare Valley, Polish Hill River and Eden Valley, including the Hughes family’s White Hutt vineyard and small family-owned sites in High Eden. Much of the harvest takes place at night, and the winery uses a gentle spin-and-drain method to draw off the juice rather than conventional pressing.
