Nicolis 2009 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico

Ripe black cherry, spiced plum, blue flowers, baking spice and new leather accompany blackberry, crushed black raspberry, raisin, liquorice and dark chocolate. Firm tannins have a velvety texture, and the finished wine carries fifteen percent alcohol. This Veneto red wine is made as the estate’s regular Classico Amarone bottling, separate from its Ambrosan Amarone release.

About Nicolis
The Nicolis family makes wine at San Pietro in Cariano, within Valpolicella Classica. Angelo Nicolis and his wife Natalia established the modern winery in 1951, building on family farming and committing the property to wine. The second generation is led by their son Giuseppe, with Angelo and Sofia now bringing a third generation into the business.
Across 49 hectares, the family farms native Valpolicella varieties with cover crops, manual harvesting and attention to biodiversity. For Amarone, grapes are dried before spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts.
