Dal Forno Romano 2008 Amarone della Valpolicella

Dried black cherry, plum and fig are layered with bitter chocolate, tobacco and toasted oak. The palate is full-bodied and densely concentrated, with firm tannins supporting the generous dark fruit. Liquorice, herbs, smoke and balsamic spice bring savoury dimension before a long, velvety finish. Decant generously and serve with braised beef, venison, grilled steak or aged cheese.

About Dal Forno Romano
Romano Dal Forno founded his Val d'Illasi estate in 1983, taking over vineyards his family had farmed for generations after a formative encounter with Giuseppe Quintarelli. His son Marco now leads the 34-hectare estate, where closely planted vines, low yields and strict fruit selection guide the vineyard work.
In the drying room, reversible fans and windows that respond to humidity control the conditions around the grapes. Amarone uses fruit from vines more than ten years old and a longer drying period, while Valpolicella comes from younger vines and spends less time drying. Vigna Sere Recioto is made only in exceptional years.
