Dark cherry and ripe red fruit lead, with a measured earthy note adding savoury depth. The palate is layered and quietly structured rather than heavy, carrying fresh fruit through a composed finish. This 2022 Cima Corgo red comes from an old-vine field blend on schist and was fermented and aged for eight months in concrete. Serve slightly cool with roast lamb, mushrooms or lentil dishes.

About Mateus Nicolau de Almeida
Mateus Nicolau de Almeida and his wife, Teresa Ameztoy, make wine at Adega do Sável in the Douro, bringing together family roots in the Douro and Rioja. They farm vines, olive trees and almond trees organically, drawing also on biodynamic practices. Their cellar is built underground in the schist.
They compare the Douro’s three subregions through separate wines, explore Rabigato from different south-facing parcels, and experiment with small lots in the cellar.
