Cherry and plum are lifted by rose-petal aromas, with liquorice, earth and tobacco adding a savoury dimension. The palate is concentrated yet fresh, its ripe fruit held by firm, finely textured tannins. Made entirely from Sangiovese, this Brunello combines warmth and depth with a long finish touched by spice and mineral notes.

About Il Poggione
Il Poggione's modern story began near the close of the nineteenth century, when Lavinio Franceschi established the estate in the hills south of Montalcino. Leopoldo and Livia Franceschi continue the family's work at the estate. Among the early estates to bring Brunello to market, Il Poggione was also a founding member of the denomination's growers' consortium.
The vineyards are part of a diversified farm around Sant'Angelo in Colle and include a site planted in 1964. Grapes are picked by hand.
