Fairview Cellars 2001 Merlot Cabernet

Merlot and Cabernet form this red blend from the Okanagan. The six-acre property near Oliver was purchased in the late nineteen-eighties, and Bordeaux varieties were planted from the early nineteen-nineties. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc occupy most of the site. The winery opened at the turn of the century beside the Fairview golf course, within one of Canada’s warmest grape-growing areas.

About Fairview Cellars
Bill Eggert established Fairview Cellars on the Golden Mile Bench, releasing its first commercial vintage in 1997. Danielle and Dermott Hutton bought the winery in 2022, after Danielle had worked with Eggert as general manager and learned winemaking from him. Today Danielle makes the wines and Dermott manages the vineyard.
The estate’s ten planted acres focus on Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Vines are pruned and leaves removed by hand, while cellar work is kept low-intervention.
