Poplar Grove 2012 Benchmark

Ripe plum, blueberry and dark cherry lead, with fruitcake and brown sugar bringing a mellow, developed sweetness to the aroma. The palate is dry and medium-full, with plush tannins, steady acidity and a measured frame of French oak. Mature but still fruit-led, it suits braised beef, roast lamb, lentils or firm cheese, with a short decant before serving.

About Poplar Grove Winery
Founded in 1993, Poplar Grove was one of the first five wineries established on the Naramata Bench. Merlot and Cabernet Franc formed the first plantings, and the 1995 debut vintage amounted to just 150 cases. Tony and Barb Holler purchased the winery in 2007; today their four sons share responsibilities across the vineyards and business.
The family farms vineyards on the Naramata and Skaha benches and around Osoyoos, matching varieties to different sites. Its Middle Bench winery opened in 2011.
