Sweet molasses, vanilla and smoky flint introduce dark plum, blackberry and warm spice. The palate is concentrated yet composed, with ripe fruit framed by steady acidity and a firm line of tannin. Smoke and dark fruit return on the persistent finish. Give it some air and serve with braised beef, lamb shoulder, grilled peppers or aged cheddar.

About Poplar Grove Winery
Founded in 1993, Poplar Grove was one of the first five wineries established on the Naramata Bench. Merlot and Cabernet Franc formed the first plantings, and the 1995 debut vintage amounted to just 150 cases. Tony and Barb Holler purchased the winery in 2007; today their four sons share responsibilities across the vineyards and business.
The family farms vineyards on the Naramata and Skaha benches and around Osoyoos, matching varieties to different sites. Its Middle Bench winery opened in 2011.
