Rudolf Fürst 2019 Spätburgunder Tradition

Ripe red cherry and red berries are framed by dried rose petal, clove and a subtle iron-rich mineral note. Juicy and translucent on the palate, it combines generous fruit with fine-boned freshness and gentle spice. Fruit from red sandstone soils is spontaneously fermented and aged for a year in seasoned barrels, preserving elegance and energy through the finish.

About Rudolf Fürst
The Fürst family has grown vines in Franken since at least 1638. Paul and Monika Fürst took over in 1979, built the present winery in Bürgstadt’s Centgrafenberg and restored steep vineyards as the estate grew from 1.5 to 21 hectares. Their son Sebastian joined in 2007 and took responsibility with Isabell in 2018, continuing to work alongside Paul.
The vineyards lie in Churfranken’s red-sandstone country along the Main, with more than sixty percent planted to Spätburgunder. The family also helped revive Frühburgunder, a rare, small-berried Pinot variety with low yields. Vineyard work includes compost and repeated hand selection at harvest; in the cellar, open wooden vats are used along with whole bunches.
