About OVID Napa Valley
OVID takes its name from the Roman poet Ovid and his Metamorphoses. David Abreu planned and planted the vineyard in 2000 as a series of one-acre blocks. At 1,349 feet on Pritchard Hill, shallow volcanic soils, strong light and persistent wind create an exposed mountain setting above Napa Valley. The blocks are farmed organically, and each small section is observed and managed individually. Austin Peterson joined the project in 2006 and has served as winemaker since 2010. Alongside the flagship, the Experiment series explores different varieties, techniques and vineyard blocks.
