Chateau Leoville Las Cases 1983 Saint-Julien

$699.99

Firm and classically mature, opening with cedar, tobacco and cigar box over bright red berries and black cherry. Ash, damp forest floor and a cool earthy note add savoury detail. The palate is medium to full in weight, with rustic tannins giving the fruit a disciplined frame. A long, dry finish returns to cedar, leaf and red fruit with a distinctly traditional profile.

About Château Léoville Las Cases
Château Léoville Las Cases emerged when the historic Léoville estate was divided between 1826 and 1840, retaining three-fifths and the heart of the original property. The Saint-Julien estate was ranked a Second Growth in the Bordeaux Classification of 1855. Its principal walled vineyard lies at the northern edge of Saint-Julien, separated from Pauillac and Château Latour by the Juillac tributary. The Grand Vin and the Petit Lion, created as its second wine in 2007, are distinct from Clos du Marquis, which comes from a separate estate terroir and is not simply the château’s second label.
