Achaval Ferrer 2022 Mendoza Malbec

Dark cherry, strawberry, spiced plum and violet appear with a peppery, reductive edge. The wine’s palate is medium- to full-bodied, with tight, fine-grained tannins and a fresh, fruit-led finish. Fruit comes from Luján, the Uco Valley and eastern Mendoza. One quarter remains in concrete, while the rest spends eight months in neutral, seasoned oak barrels.

About Achaval Ferrer
Achaval Ferrer began in 1998 when a group of Argentine and Italian friends set out to build a Mendoza winery. Finca Altamira supplied the debut 1999 wine and became the reference point for the house’s single-vineyard philosophy. The estate’s vineyards include plantings dating to 1910.
At Altamira, ungrafted Malbec planted in 1950 grows around 1,100 metres above sea level beside the Tunuyán River, on layered alluvial soils with volcanic and limestone-rich deposits. The range also includes Mendoza Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon.
