Lyrarakis 2024 Liatiko PGI Crete

Light ruby colour accompanies cherry, ripe raspberry, wild berries, red-fruit liqueur, herbal notes and spice. The palate is balanced and fresh, with fine tannins and a juicy finish. Liatiko comes from two dry-farmed vineyards in Rethymno and Sitia. The fruit was harvested by hand in early September. Maceration lasted five days, and fermentation took place in stainless steel at twenty-three degrees Celsius.

About Lyrarakis Wines
The Lyrarakis family established its winery in 1966 in the foothills of Crete's Lassithi Mountains, and the second generation now carries the estate forward. Its work is closely tied to Cretan grapes: the estate cultivates more than eleven indigenous varieties and helped bring Dafni, Plyto and Melissaki back from near disappearance. Estate vineyards are joined by grower partnerships across the island.
In 2020 Lyrarakis started the organic conversion of its estate vineyards, pairing that transition with cover crops, composting and reduced soil disturbance. Higher-elevation plantings and lyre-shaped vine training are among the ways the estate responds to Crete's dry, warm conditions.
