Génot-Boulanger 2021 Mercurey Premier Cru En Sazenay

Round, cushioned red fruit includes strawberry, with fine texture and intensity through the middle of the palate. Pinot Noir grows on an east-facing, 1.81-hectare slope with predominantly clay-limestone soil. Grapes are harvested by hand and fully destemmed. Native yeasts are used during a two-to-three-week vatting period. Maturation lasts twelve months in oak and six months in stainless steel, and the wine is not filtered.

About Domaine Génot-Boulanger
Charles-Henri and Marie Génot-Boulanger founded their domaine in Meursault in 1974, beginning with parcels in Mercurey before adding holdings across the Côte d'Or. By 1998, the estate covered 22 hectares in 11 villages; today its 30 appellations stretch from the Côte de Nuits through the Côte de Beaune to the Côte Chalonnaise. The founders’ grandson François Delaby took over in 1998; Aude and Guillaume Lavollée followed in 2008.
The vineyards are farmed organically. Harvesting is by hand, and Pinot Noir is fully destemmed before fermentation with indigenous yeasts. Chardonnay ferments in barrel without added sulphur, then matures for twelve months in oak and six in stainless steel before bottling without filtration.
