Roasted agave leads with orange zest, vanilla and polished oak. The palate is smooth and rounded, layering caramel, toffee and warm spice over a clear agave core. Time in former Cognac and bourbon barrels brings richness without burying the spirit’s freshness. The finish is medium and warming, leaving cinnamon, citrus, roasted nuts and a gentle peppery note. Serve neat or in a spirit-forward cocktail.

About Cavas de Don Max
The Becherano family makes Cantera Negra tequila at Cavas de Don Max in Jalisco. Don Alberto Becherano spent more than a decade refining the tequila before its release, originally pursuing a spirit to share with family and friends.
Cantera Negra means “black quarry,” a reference to the dark volcanic stone of the agave-growing landscape. Mature Blue Weber agave, water and yeast form the base of the tequilas, with former bourbon and Cognac casks used for the aged expressions.
