Wynns Coonawarra Estate 2021 The Siding Cabernet Sauvignon
$27.99
Ripe cherry and bramble are joined by savoury lavender and spice. Dark berries, cedar and earthy notes are also present, alongside fresh acidity and malleable tannins. Made entirely from Cabernet Sauvignon grown in Coonawarra, the wine contains 13.7 percent alcohol. The local railway siding that influenced the area’s early settlement gives the cuvée its name.

About Wynns Coonawarra Estate
Wynns Coonawarra Estate grew from John Riddoch’s Coonawarra Fruit Colony, where large-scale vine planting began in 1891. Samuel Wynn and his son David bought the property in 1951, with David taking charge two years later. The triple-gabled winery became the subject of Richard Beck’s woodcut, familiar from the wine labels.
The vineyards lie on Coonawarra’s terra rossa ridge, where red earth overlies limestone and the cool climate allows a long ripening season. A vineyard-renewal programme began in 2002, while the cellar works in small lots; winemaker Sue Hodder joined in 1993 and became senior winemaker in 1998. Cabernet Sauvignon and old-vine Shiraz remain central to the wines.
