La Miraja 2021 Ruchè di Castagnole Monferrato

Violet, rose, iris, jasmine, cardamom, white pepper and lychee appear with wild berries, red cherry and pomegranate. The palate has robust acidity and moderate tannins. Ruchè comes from estate vineyards at 250 metres on calcareous red-clay soils. Hand-harvested fruit is destemmed, basket pressed into stainless steel and kept on the skins for ten days during native fermentation. Malolactic fermentation is spontaneous. Maturation includes three months in cement and four months in bottle.

About Azienda Agricola La Miraja
Owner and winemaker Eugenio Gatti continues more than seven generations of family winegrowing at Azienda Agricola La Miraja in Castagnole Monferrato. The family works from the historic heart of the village, with a cellar set inside Castagnole's old castle and a seventeenth-century house nearby. Ruchè is the centrepiece, joined by Grignolino and Barbera—three local varieties that keep the range firmly rooted in Piedmont.
