Since 1620, the Lorgeril family has patiently built a philosophy and a wine culture. Their aim is to express as naturally as possible the fabulous terroirs of the Languedoc. They have always been convinced that the best terroirs are those that are set at altitude. Today, each Lorgeril estate is to be found in the heart of the highest areas in their appellation, where the cool nights and the wide range of temperatures bring out all the aromatic riches of the grapes as they ripen - whilst maintaining their freshness and elegance

The Nebbiolo that comes off this property is some of the best in La Morra. Even in challenging vintages the Monfalletto terroir yields Nebbiolo that is both powerful and supple. Insiders know that this is one of the best terroirs in Barolo.
95 Points, Robert Parker: "The house style prizes muscle and brawn in this vintage that lends itself handily to these qualities. Pressed cherry and blackberry cede to licorice, cured tobacco and iron ore."
94 Points, Wine Spectator: "A plump, cherry-, raspberry- and tar-flavored red, showing accents of mineral, tobacco and eucalyptus, with a swath of solid tannins guarding the finish. Balanced and long, this should come around soon."
94 Points, James Suckling: "Attractive aromas of black cherry with strawberry and hints of vanilla and cedar. Some sandalwood. Medium body. Ultra-fine tannins integrate beautifully into the wine. Plenty of fruit flavors and length. Juicy."
Vecchia Cantina Chianti Riserva 2016
$27.99
This terrific Tuscan value comes from carefully selected grapes 400 metres above sea level on top of a limestone ridge adjacent to the ancient village of Montepulciano. The grapes are hand harvested and after a traditional vinification it spends 2 years in oak.
Aromatic, expressive and round, this vintage offers loads of Sangiovese character in a succulent, mid-weight style that will find plenty of admirers. The balance of the texture and freshness makes for a compelling Chianti to drink now and over the next few years. All and all, a terrific Tuscan value!
